Most Amazon listings are losing sales from the same handful of fixable mistakes. Here’s what to audit first — and what to do about each one.
A conversion rate below 10% on Amazon isn’t normal — it’s a symptom. And in most cases, it comes from the same handful of mistakes that are entirely fixable without a single dollar of additional ad spend.
1. A Main Image That Doesn’t Stop the Scroll
Your main image is your first impression in search results. Shoppers decide whether to click in under a second. If your main image looks like everyone else’s — white background, centered product, no context — you’re invisible. The fix: test a lifestyle main image, add a callout badge, or zoom in to show product quality.
2. A Title Built for Robots, Not Buyers
Keyword-stuffed titles like ‘Organic Green Tea Matcha Powder Ceremonial Grade Antioxidant Supplement 100g’ rank for everything and convince nobody. Your title needs to hit the top 3–5 keywords AND communicate a compelling reason to click. Both. At the same time.
3. Bullets That List Features Instead of Solving Problems
Nobody buys a feature. They buy an outcome. ‘Made from premium stainless steel’ means nothing. ‘Won’t rust, bend, or stain — guaranteed for life’ means something. Rewrite every bullet to lead with the benefit and follow with the feature.
Features tell. Benefits sell. Your five bullets are your best sales pitch — treat them that way.
4. A+ Content That Looks Like a Template
Amazon allows up to 7 modules of rich A+ content. Most brands use 2 generic ones with a lifestyle photo and repeated bullets. High-converting A+ content tells a story — it handles objections, shows the product in use, explains the difference from competitors, and builds brand trust. This is your chance to close the sale.
5. Ignoring the Price-Value Signal
Price is not just about being cheap — it’s about being believable. If your listing looks generic but you’re priced at a premium, shoppers won’t trust it. If you’ve built a strong brand presence but you’re priced too low, you’ll attract bargain hunters who leave negative reviews. Price your product to match the value story your listing tells.
- Audit your main image against top 5 competitors in search
- Rewrite one bullet as a benefit-led statement and track conversion
- Check your A+ content — does it answer the top 3 buyer objections?
- Review your pricing tier vs. perceived listing quality
Each of these is a lever. Pulling even one can meaningfully move your conversion rate. At GrowPluse, we audit all five as part of every free account review.
